Marathon to Key Largo

 Nice (short) stay in Marathon.  Foggy morning, but it lifted about 9… 9:15 departure.  Very smooth most of the day, about an hour out of Key Largo we started seeing dark clouds, and an approaching storm on radar.  We had 20 kts with gusts to 30 the last 1/2 hour or so.  A little hairy entering the narrow canal to Pilot House Marina.  The skies opened up with rain just as we were approaching the dock.  Got tied up with the help of 2 marina hands (in spite of no response to calls on radio and phone).  Waiting for rain to let up before we connect power and adjust lines.  Photo shows radar… (we are the blue dot).  Majority of trip was great, see video.  Here is today’s Track

Phase 2: Myrtle Beach to Georgetown

 After a few weeks away from the boat for great Christmas celebrations with Family, we returned to the boat on New Years Eve.  Gwen battling a sinus infection, on 2nd round of antibiotics, and Jim close behind leading to an urgent care visit on New Years Day… We’re optimistic that we’ll soon be 100%, but in any case, great to be back on the boat, and enjoy the company of Theodore’s crew as well.  We left just after 8 today for Georgetown.  Nice run, and in particular the run down the Waccamaw river is one of the most picturesque of the whole trip!  We stopped for fuel at Waccawachi Marina (say that 3 times fast)… probably the best diesel prices on the east coast (2.959).  We took on just over 200 gallons… not bad since our last fueling was in Hampton on the way north last April.  Arrived Georgetown before 2:30, looking forward to a good dinner in town with Richard & Francey.  Here is today’s  Track .

Southport to Myrtle Beach

 Beautiful day (we are moving south)!!  Touched 60 deg this afternoon.  Smooth trip to Myrtle Beach, no issues.  Rinsed boat, pumped out, and filled water tank.  All is well.  We’ll pick up rental car, dinner at the Captains Table (nice spot), and the drive to VA tomorrow.  Great end to this 2st leg of the journey.  Here it today’s  Track

Sunbury to Safe Harbor Skull Creek (Hilton Head)

 We had a great stay at Sunbury Crab Company… wonderful food and atmosphere.  Left just after 7:30 for the longer run to Hilton Head (actually Safe Harbor Skull Creek).  Smooth travels, and arrived about 4:15.  We took at Uber to Hudson’s Seafood House on the Docks… great dinner!  Here is today’s  Track
