Lighthouse Point
We had good night at anchor, some rain in the night, but it stopped for Cooper’s dinghy trip to shore, and retrieving the anchor. Anchor up at 8… decided to run “outside” (in the ocean rather than ICW) from Miami to Fort Lauderdale. Some rocking a rolling, but not bad and saved us about an hour (no wake zones, bridges, etc). Anne Marie was able to get a picture of us (look closely at the small spec on the horizon above the guy with the beach umbrella… that’s us!) from Miami Beach!
We still had 2 or 3 that had to open… one bridge tender tried to get us to “try” to see if we could fit without opening the bridge… bridge fender boards said 11 feet, we need 16… we declined… she tried several times to convince us… (wouldn’t provide a height… just said try it)… finally she opened the bridge for us. We passed a couple of cruse ships in Fort Lauderdale (always cool to see them from the water)! Here is today’s Track
We contacted Betty… the friend of a friend… the stopped by, and loaned us her car… went for groceries and a great Italian meal at Rocco Trattoria! Thanks to Betty! She was unable to join us for dinner… but maybe next time.
