Southport

Short day today, which is good as fog rolled in around 7:00.  We left Wrightsville Beach @ 8:00 and cruised slowly (no need to arrive too much before 1:00 at Southport).  We took a 30 minute side trip into Carolina Beach just to see what it is all about.  Beachy looking town, lots of condos etc, even a McDonalds. Then on towards Southport, thru Snow’s Cut, and down the Cape Fear River (up river is the city of Wilmington NC).  We saw a good bit of commercial traffic, constant dredging, and a few more examples of what happens if your anchor doesn’t hold in a storm, overall a pleasant travel day.  A few rain showers, but no storms.  Another uneventful departure and arrival, thanks to good communication and increasing experience.  Here is our track for today:  Track.  We walked 3 - 4 miles around town.  Nice little town, but no grocery within walking distance.  Great dinner at "Fishy Fishy" cafe, wonderful gumbo like soup, and blackened Mahi Mahi.
