Jekyll Island
We left at 7:30, and had a smooth trip. Very windy (20 ish knots). Mid morning we noticed that our anemometer wasn’t working (had been 1st thing). When we arrived at our final destination, it was powered down, disconnected, connections cleaned, and re powered… seems to be working. We’ll need to keep an eye on this. Not critical, but it’s nice to know what the wind really is doing. Beautiful run through the salt marshes of Georgia. Several shallow areas (Mud River & Hell Gate) that should be avoided close to low tide. The shallowest (is that a word) provided some excitement… as we approached our final destination, there is a shallow area (near Green 19 marker)… we knew in advance that we would be approaching low tide, so we picked up the speed so as to arrive as much before low tide as possible (lesson learned… should have planned better, and increased speed just a little all day, rather than a lot at the end). In any case, depth sounder read as low as 4.4 feet (we need 4.5 feet)… we were were either in the mud a little… or within the accuracy of the measurement. In any case… we made it! Here is our track for the day.
